Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a chance for several Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
