Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
